The editors sadly announce the untimely death of Karen Dee Michalowicz, one of the original members of the editorial board of Convergence and a mainstay for many years in the community of mathematics educators using the history of mathematics.  Karen died on Monday, July 17, 2006 of complications from a blood disorder, only weeks before she was scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant.  Among her many accomplishments was being co-director of NSF-sponsored project, Historical Modules for the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics, which resulted in the publication by the MAA of a CD with that title in 2005.

Friends may call at Everly Community Funeral Care, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22044 on Thursday, July 20, 2006 from 6-8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 10 am from St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22041.

Come back to this site for information on a permanent memorial to Karen, who will be sorely missed by her many friends and colleagues.
