Information for Publishers

"Read This!" is the MAA Online book review column. In general, we review books in the following categories:

In general, we do not review textbooks, manuals for computer software, books with an exclusive focus on secondary school teaching, research monographs, or science books without a strong connection to mathematics.

These specifications are intended as guidelines; the editor will feel free to break them in exceptional cases. Publishers should feel free to consult the editor before sending books for review.

While we will try to review most of the books we receive, we make no promise to cover all of them. Books which are of interest but which do not quite fit our guidelines or which cannot, for some reason, receive a full review may be covered in our "Briefly Noted" column.

Our reviewing process takes a little time (reviewers need time to read and think about books), but our publishing lead time once we have a review on hand is essentially zero, so we hope to have reviews up in a timely fashion. Whenever possible, we will link reviews to a site from which the book may be purchased. Publishers who would like links to their own pages should send the information along with the review copies.
