Purposes: To explore the applicability of a linear differential equation as a model for the process of sprinting, and to illustrate the importance of parameters in modeling.
Prerequisites: The tutorial for your computer algebra system (CAS) and ability to solve a first-order linear differential equation with constant coefficients.
This module can be used early in a differential equations course, or wherever appropriate in a calculus course, to illustrate a modeling process and a non-traditional application of first-order linear equations.
