Frieze:
A frieze, or strip pattern, is a repeating pattern with translation symmetry in one direction. The repeating patterns may have rotational, reflectional, or glide reflectional symmetry.
The rigid motions combine to create 7 distinct classifications of frieze patterns.

To classify a frieze pattern, it is convenient to use a flow chart. A flow chart for frieze pattern classification is shown in the figure below.
