Research opportunities

Is an REU for You?  What is a Research Experience for Undergraduates?

There are many excellent mathematics REUs around the country. See a List of REU Program Sites

The National Science Foundation sponsors many REUs in the mathematical and other sciences.

The American Society for Engineering Education administers several fellowship, scholarship and internship programs for government agencies, including the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Click here for more information.

Summer programs that focus on particular groups of students include:

The Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women (for freshmen and sophomores) is an NSF/NSA funded program to encourage and support women in their study of mathematics.

The George Washington University Summer Program for Women in Mathematics (for juniors) is a five-week intensive program for mathematically-talented undergraduate women who may be contemplating graduate study in the mathematical sciences.

The National Research Experience for Undergraduates Program (NREUP) provides excellent research opportunities for minority students.  Also see NAM's Student Web Site for information on their past summer research programs for minorities.

The Council on Undergraduate Research supports and promotes high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship.

The mission of the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research is to promote undergraduate research scholarship and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education.
