Teaching Future High School and Middle School Teachers

This workshop has three components spanning a period of 13 months followed by an ongoing participation in an email network.

A comprehensive program designed to enhance participants' effectiveness in teaching undergraduate students who plan to teach mathematics in High school and/or Middle school. Participants will spend 12 days at Potsdam State University during each of two summers, engage in a related project during the intervening year and remain in contact during the ensuing years. During the two summers, participants will work with several individuals with long experience in mathematics and the preparation of teachers, including Richard Askey, Deborah Ball, Hyman Bass, Ed Dubinsky, Kathy Heid, Robin Lock and Rose Zbiek. Participants will have contact with current High school and Middle school teachers, college students preparing to become teachers, and students in local schools.
