Email:

Dates of Program: May 22 - July 2, 2004
Summary:
This project will provide an introduction to mathematical research for
undergraduates. Several research topics in Discrete Mathematics wil be
covered primarily in the form of lectures given by students and the
instructors. Lectures given by the instructors will focus mainly on
topics to motivate and augment student research. Each student will
select an area of research and is required to become an expert in that
selected area. Each student will complete an extensive survey of their
area and report formally and informally on their progress regurly. The
main objective of each student is to write a research paper and to
effectively teach their topic to the rest of the group including
constructing exercises of verying levels of difficulty for homework.
Our daily group meetings will include formal presentations, discussions
on technical writing, and constructive feedback on presentations and
written reports.
