2021-2022 AMC Online Policies

AMC Announcement for the 2021-22 Competition Cycle

Dear AMC community,

Starting Fall 2020, the AMC is providing an online option, in addition to the paper option to administer its competitions. Students will be proctored by their competition manager, either in-person or remotely, at the discretion of the competition manager. Remote proctoring requires the competition manager to monitor the student through video conferencing software. Thank you for securing the safety of yourself and others during this competition administration cycle.

In our print and online competitions, only competition manager proctoring is allowed. Competition managers are working hard to ensure the competition is administered with fidelity and adopted procedures to deter cheating during the AMC and provide a quality competition experience.

Again we've made these decisions after much debate and deliberation. Thank you for being part of the AMC community and diligently adhering to the policies below. We are enthused to support you throughout the competition cycle.

Important Policies for ONLINE Administration

Valid Administration Time Period

Competition managers may choose to administer the competition at separate times to different sections of students; however, for competition integrity and security, the MAA AMC strongly encourages competition managers to administer the competition to all participating students at the same time.

  • AMC 10/12: Competitions must be administered no earlier than 8:00 AM and no later than 11:59 PM Eastern Standard time (GMT +5) on the official USA competition dates: the AMC 10/12 A is administered on November 10, 2021 and the AMC 10/12 B on November 16, 2021.
  • AMC 8: Competitions must be administered between January 18 - 24, 2022 with the testing window starting 8 AM Eastern Standard time (GMT +5) on January 18, 2022 and expiring 11:59 PM Eastern Standard time (GMT +5) on January 24, 2022.

Proctoring

  • Proctoring must be done by Competition Managers only. Parent or guardian proctoring is not allowed. Students will be proctored by their competition manager, either in-person or remotely, at the discretion of the competition manager. Remote proctoring requires the competition manager to monitor the student through video conferencing software.
  • Competition Managers have the option to administer the competition online or in print. Only one type of administration is allowed per competition.
    • Competition Managers may register for additional competitions in different administration formats (ex. AMC 8 online administration and AMC 10/12 print administration). Only school and educational administrators can register students for the AMC.
  •  If there is any suspicion of cheating or unapproved resources, proctors will be contacted. Participants should be continuously monitored by their AMC competition manager proctor.
    • View Disqualification and Cheating policies here.
