Ivars Peterson Named Director of Publications for Journals and Communications

 

The MAA is pleased to announce it has selected Ivars Peterson as Director of Publications for Journals and Communications. Ivars Peterson will join the Association at its Washington headquarters on Monday, March 5, 2007. In his position as Director, Ivars will be overseeing the MAA's journals and other periodicals , as well as content and resources of the MAA's website. His other activities will entail duties related to communications of the MAA to its members, sections, the public, and other constituencies.

Peterson has an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a B.Ed. in Education and a B.Sc. in Physics and Chemistry from the University of Toronto. He currently holds the position of writer at Science News and editor of Science News Online and Science News for Kids. Ivars is also a weekly mathematics columnist for Science News Online and MAA Online and is the author of several books, including the MAA's Mathematical Treks: From Surreal Numbers to Magic Circles. He previously worked as a high school science and mathematics teacher.

We are very pleased that Ivars will be joining the MAA and welcome him to the staff and the leadership team.
