MAA signs letter in support of science funding

MAA president Ann Watkins and Executive Director Tina Straley were part of a long list of leaders of scientific societies signing a letter to Congress in support of science funding. The letter, prepared by the Coalition for National Science Funding, argues that strengthening the funding for the National Science Foundation is one of the best ways to spur the growth of the economy and also contributes to preventing and combating terrorism, and therefore deserves a prominent spot in the budget for fiscal year 2003. The letter discusses a broad range of NSF programs, including both research and education programs.
