IMO Contestant Recognized

James Tao, who competed for Team USA at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) for the second time last month, told his local paper about the competition and the preparation that led up to it.

"Tao describes the IMO as a 'yearlong competition,'" reports the Beacon-News, "given the packed schedule of preliminary competitions and training that come before it."

Tao, who graduated from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy this spring, will not settle for just any job.

“If I don’t become a professor," he told the Beacon-News, "I’ll try to find something that interests me. If I can’t find a job that interests me, I’ll create one.”
