Let's Hear It for the Math Poets

Slate picked up science writer Stephen Ornes's Last Word on Nothing post about how we ought to combine Mathematics Awareness Month and National Poetry Month into the first-ever Mathematical Poetry Month.

Ornes catalogs historical connections between poetry and mathematics, touches briefly on the question of what makes a poem mathematical anyway, and indicates publications and venues where math-poetry mashups are alive and well.

"So this month, let’s hear it for the math poets," Ornes writes. "Please raise your glasses! But don’t, as the mathematicians warn, drink and derive."
