Mary Ellen Rudin Dies at 88

Influential topologist Mary Ellen Rudin died on March 18 at the age of 88.

Rudin, who received her Ph.D. at the University of Texas in 1949 under the direction of R. L. Moore, was named the Grace Chisholm Young Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Rudin authored more than 70 research papers over the course of her career and served on the MAA's Board of Directors.
