The results are in for the 73rd annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, and Harvard has done it--won, that is--for the 29th time in the Putnam's seven-decade history. Read more.

MAA National Elections 2013 Are Green. Make Sure You Participate!

The MAA National Elections are being held right now. We are electing a President-Elect and two Vice Presidents along with two new members for the Nominating Committee. This is your opportunity to influence the future of the MAA. It is important for these decisions to be made by us, the members.

MAA Website and Subdomains to Be Unavailable Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5

As part of the effort to provide better, faster, and more reliable service, MAA will be moving its data center to a new location on May 4 and 5. The website will be unavailable during the transfer.

 

INGenIOuS Project to Think Strategically about Future Mathematics and Statistics Professionals

The INGenIOuS project, funded by the National Science Foundation, will be facilitated in collaboration with a team from Knowinnovation. With a series of online activities, including live virtual panels and forum discussions, the project will culminate in the publication of six white papers and a three-day workshop at the American Statistical Association headquarters in the Washington, D.C., area this July. Mathematics Awareness Month Focuses on the Mathematics of Sustainability

Mathematics Awareness Month April 2013 includes two nationwide initiatives: Sustainability Counts! provides K-16 math educators and students with a range of model lessons that connect mathematics and sustainability, and the Speakers Bureau is a group of mathematicians, scientists, and sustainability professionals available to speak to school audiences on the mathematics of sustainability.

 

16th Annual Legacy of R. L. Moore Inquiry-Based Learning Conference

Deadline Looms for Submission of MAA MathFest 2013 Abstracts

MAA MathFest is coming to Hartford, CT, this summer, and anyone keen to contribute a paper has only until April 30 to submit an abstract. The deadline for student papers and posters is June 8.
