21st Century Mathematics

The Center for Curriculum Redesign is organizing 21st CenturyMathematics: "What should students learn in the 21st Century?" in Stockholm, April 22-24. Michael Pearson and a number of prominent MAA members will be speaking at the event. This conference will discuss top-level changes in the Math school curriculum, in terms of what topics and branches should be added, and just as crucially, what should be removed. The overall goal of the conference is to explore what students should learn to effectively address the challenges society faces, to participate fully as informed citizens, and to make effective personal choices for health care, finance, etc.

Scholarships of the Actuarial Foundation

Mathematics Magazine Editor Search

The MAA seeks to identify candidates to succeed Walter Stromquist as Editor of Mathematics Magazine when his term expires in December 2014. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, the names of three references, and a statement of interest containing a vision of and ideas about the journal. Nominations are welcome.

Review of applicants will begin March 15, 2013, with appointment as Editor-Elect to commence on January 1, 2014. The five-year editorial term runs January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2019. Read more here

JMM 2014 Deadlines Approaching 

It's not too late to propose a session for the Joint MathematicsMeetings in Baltimore. All MAA members are encouraged to consider submitting proposals for sessions. Deadlines for Contributed Paper Sessions and Minicourses have passed but there is still time to for Panels, Workshops, and Poster Sessions. Submissions are due April 9, 2013. Guidelines and instructions may be found here.
