JMM Student Poster Session


2013 Poster Session

Check out the 2018 JMM abstract book, now available.

The MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session, organized by Chasen Smith (Georgia Southern University) and Eric Ruggieri (College of the Holy Cross), will be held on Friday, January 12th, 2018. Students will have from 2:30 to 3:30 pm to set up their posters, judging will begin at 3:30 pm and general viewing will begin at 4:30 pm. The session ends at 6 pm. The session is reserved for undergraduate and first-year graduate students submitting posters on work done while an undergraduate. Posters will be viewed during the session and feedback provided by professionals and mathematicians, will be available the following day at the MAA Programs booth. JMM is the largest annual mathematics meeting in the world and offers a variety of sessions that are designed to appeal to undergraduates. Visit the official JMM website for complete registration and program information.

The MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Sessions humble beginning in 1990 with fewer than fifteen student projects. It now showcases more than 300 projects and continues to grow each year. There are over 200 professional mathematicians participating on the judging panel, so this is a great opportunity to get your work noticed by leaders in your field.

The 2018 MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session abstract book is now available!

Appropriate poster topics include: a new result, a new proof of a known result, a new mathematical model, an innovative solution to a Putnam problem, a method of solution for an applied problem. Purely expository topics are not appropriate for this session. For more information, please see A Guide to Writing an Abstract.

All presenting students must also register for the conference itself at the Joint Mathematics Meetings website.

Interested in the MAA student travel grant? You can apply here!

The deadline for applying for student travel is Friday, October 6th, 2017, at 11:59 pm EST.

Each student that wishes to receive travel funding must complete the application in order to be considered for a travel grant. Applying for the poster session does not automatically enroll the student in the MAA student travel grant or vice versa. For more information, please visit our student travel page.
