This is a Dover reprint of a book first published in 1984. At the time, the Telegraphic Review described it as "A textbook for an introductory course in mathematical modeling. An unusual feature of this text is its emphasis on the modeling process. Includes both analytical and computer exercises."

A full length review appeared in SIAM Review and can be accessed through JSTOR.
