This volume consists of 25 thoughtful papers on mathematics education with the aim of reaching a wide audience. They hit the target. There are five parts, each described as “benefitting” a particular audience: readers of this book, pre-service and in-service teachers, STEM majors, students in general education courses, and the public and the larger mathematical community.

While these divisions are helpful, there is enough crossover between them that readers will probably find articles in all five parts that interest them. This diversity of articles is one of the most appealing aspects of this volume.

All of the articles are written by experts in the field. They will be beneficial to many in the mathematics community. This is the first volume devoted to mathematics education in the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) Series with Springer. If the quality of this book is any indication, I look forward to future volumes.

Herbert E. Kasube is Professor of Mathematics at Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
