This book of manuscripts, partitioned into four parts, offers the reader a thorough history of mathematics education in Singapore. Articles in Part I detail the history of Singapore’s educational system, primary through post-secondary levels, and how it has changed over the years. In addition, the section also includes thought-provoking information describing Singapore students’ performances in TIMSS and PISA assessments.

Articles in Part II focus on the mathematics pedagogy utilized in Singapore, which details strategies used in the mathematics classroom, such as the Model Method, pattern activities, and AlgeDisc™, as well as sample problems to aid the reader in understanding the mathematics techniques and/or manipulatives discussed.

Part III highlights articles that focus on the education of teachers in Singapore, including professional development. Through analysis of this section, the reader will gain an understanding of professional development activities that have been conducted in Singapore.

Part IV includes a nice summary of the book with a discussion of what is to come in the future for Singapore mathematics.

This book is a great read for anyone wanting to learn more about Singapore’s educational system—past, present, and future.
