See Brian Borchers’ review of the first edition. In addition to adding a co-author, the new edition tries to address recent developments in the field, from changes in the hardware and software environment to consideration of piecewise-smooth discontinuous objective functions. In particular, the new edition introduces the scientific computing language Python. The book is accompanied by a Python module pmo that makes all the algorithms presented in the book easily accessible and implementable.
