Mathematical Treasure: Borelli's Revision of Euclid's Geometry

Giovanni Alfonso Borelli (1608–1679) was an Italian physiologist, physicist, and mathematician. A versatile scientist, he was an acquaintance of Galileo and promoter of his scientific techniques. Borelli eventually became head of mathematics at the University of Pisa. His Euclide rinnovato (Euclid Revised) was published in 1663.
