Mathematical Treasure: Clairaut's Elements of Algebra

Alexis Claude Clairaut (1713-1765) was a versatile and gifted French mathematician who wrote several influential books on mathematics and its applications. In 1749, he published Élémens d’Algebre. The images shown below are from the third edition of this algebra book in 1760.
