Author(s):
Frank J. Swetz (Pennsylvania State University)

Stereometry or The Art of Gauging (1712) was written by Thomas Everard. The measuring of barrel contents was still an important activity. This work, first published in 1684, became very popular and went through twelve more editions. The title page of the seventh edition is shown below; the last known edition was published in 1728.
