Mathematical Treasure: Fontaine’s Traité de calcul différentiel et intégral

Alexis Fontaine, also known as Alexis Fontaine des Bertins (1704–1771) was a French mathematician. His Traité de calcul différentiel et intégral of 1770 was very popular in its time. It consisted mainly of his collected research articles on topics such as the calculus of variations.
