Mathematical Treasure: George Boole on the Laws of Thought

Author(s):
Frank J. Swetz (The Pennsylvania State University)

An Investigation of the Laws of Thought (1854) was George Boole’s (1815-1864) most famous work. This book followed the British mathematician’s previous book, The Mathematical Analysis of Logic (1847). Together, these two books established a firm foundation for the modern study of logic.

The “Table of Contents” provides a listing of topics considered by Boole in his study of logic.
