Mathematical Treasure: Hilbert on Algebraic Number Fields

David Hilbert (1862–1943) forced a rethinking of the foundations of mathematics in the early twentieth century. His Die Theorie der algebraischen Zahlkörper (Theory of Algebraic Number Fields), published in 1897, consisted of five parts comprising 542 pages.
