Mathematical Treasures - Deidier on Arithmetic and Geometry

Author(s):
Frank J. Swetz (The Pennsylvania State University)

L’Abbé Deidier (1696–1746) was a Jesuit who served as Professor of Mathematics and Artillery at the Ecole d'Artillerie de La Fère. He authored several treatises on mathematical and mechanical subjects; this is the title page for his Suite de L’Arithmetique des Géométres (1739).

On the first page of his text, the author discussed solution techniques for quadratic and cubic equations.
