Linear Transformation with Given Eigenvectors

This application takes a pair of eigenvalues and eigenvectors supplied by the user and shows how the linear transformation with the given eigenvalues and eigenvectors transforms points on the unit circle.

The user drags two points in the plane to form the eigenvectors for a transformation; the corresponding eigenvalues are the respective lengths of the vectors. The application shows the standard matrix of the transformation along with the vectors, the unit circle, the image of the unit circle under the transformation, and arrows that show how 20 fixed points on the unit circle are transformed.

The description is very accurate but the applet could use some additional explanation to guide the user.
