Registration

Registration is now open. Participants can pick up their registration materials at the onsite registration desk. MAA does not mail registration materials. Note: If registering online anytime after 7/17, badges will have to be printed on site.and may not be immediately available for collection at the front desk. Please consult the registration staff for guidance.

Cancellations

MAA MathFest cancellations must be received by Friday, May 12, 2017 to qualify for a full refund. A 50% refund is available through Friday, June 23, 2017. Cancellations must be received by email to the MAA Meetings and Events Department (meetings@maa.org) or in writing to:

Dates

MAA MathFest will take place from Wednesday, July 26, 2017 through Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Registration will open at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, with various student events in the afternoon. The Exhibit Hall and Grand Opening Reception will be open to all registrants from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, immediately followed by the Pi Mu Epsilon J. Sutherland Frame Lecture at 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

MAA MathFest sessions and events will conclude by 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 29, 2017. The detailed Schedule at a Glance will be posted closer to conference.

Transportation

O'Hare International Airport, located 17 miles from downtown, is one of the largest airports in the world. It is North America's major international gateway airport, servicing over 67 million passengers to and from over 200 destinations around the globe.
Midway International Airport is located 10 miles from downtown Chicago and offers another convenient travel option for visitors. It is the nation's premier point-to-point airport, offering value-oriented leisure and business travel to over 60 destinations.

Both airports offer plentiful taxi service to downtown and the suburbs. Rates range from $40-50 from O'Hare, and $30-40 from Midway. Rates vary based on travel time and are subject to change.

The Chicago Transit Authority serves both airports for easy and economical travel between downtown and Chicago neighborhoods using the 'L' train. The 24-hour CTA Blue Line connects directly to O'Hare and the CTA Orange Line connects directly to Midway. Visit transitchicago.com/airports for full fare information and maps.

GO Airport Express, www.airportexpress.com/chicago provides shared ride services to all downtown/suburban hotels and many businesses. Pair fares and group discounts are available along with customized reservation portals for your groups.

Many major car rental companies have facilities at the O'Hare and Midway Airports, including Avis, Alamo, Budget and Hertz. Please visit specific rental company websites for details.

Parking Discounts

Here are some options for reducing parking costs, for anyone planning to drive to MathFest:

MAA has secured a limited number of self-parking parking spaces at $25.00 per night at the Hilton Chicago. These will be available on a first come, first served basis, between Sunday, July 23, 2017 and Sunday, July 30, 2017.

If staying at the Hilton, please request the MathFest parking discount at the Hilton Front Desk during check-in. If these are available, your reservation will be updated. If not staying at the Hilton, please pick up parking discount stickers from the MathFest Registration in the 8th Street South Lobby of the Hilton, during registration hours Wednesday through Saturday. You will need a discount sticker to affix to your parking ticket daily if not staying overnight.

Locals also recommend driving to Michigan City, IN, and parking at one of the stations for the South Shore Line: http://www.mysouthshoreline.com/ and http://www.mysouthshoreline.com/tickets/maps-stations/. Parking is often free and train tickets are typically $7.50 one way. These trains arrive at Millennium Station which is a few blocks from the Hilton Chicago. There are similar commuter lines that service Chicago: https://metrarail.com/ and https://metrarail.com/maps-schedules/system-map.

 

Housing

All MAA MathFest attendees are responsible for making their own housing accommodations, but MAA has reserved a room block at its meeting headquarters hotel (Hilton Chicago).

Room reservations for all MAA MathFest hotels will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Room rates are quoted in USD and do not include any additional fees and applicable taxes. All reservations are subject to availability.

Room Rates:

King bed, 1 bathroom: $176 single/double occupancy, $201 triple, $226 quad rate
2 Double beds, 1 bathroom: $176 single/double occupancy, $201 triple, $226 quad rate
2 Double beds with 2 bathrooms (larger room): $196 single/double occupancy, $221 triple, $246 quad rate

Accommodations Notes:
All rates will also be charged local taxes and fees, which are currently 17.4%.
Discounted MAA rates can be reserved Sunday, July 23 through Sunday, July 30 2017, based on room availability at the Chicago Hilton.

MAA guests will receive complimentary WiFi access in their guest room and in the MAA MathFest meeting spaces.

Hotel check-out time: 12:00 Noon
All guests arriving before 4:00 PM will be accommodated as rooms become available.
Baggage storage will be available onsite, for a small fee.

 

Wireless Internet Access

To access complimentary wireless Internet in meeting spaces at the Hilton Chicago, please follow the below instructions:

  • Connect to the Network ID/SSID of “Hilton Chicago Meeting”
  • When prompted, enter password "MATHFEST2017"

Please note: The password is case sensitive and should be in upper case letters, with no spaces
