The Woman Who Cracked Enigma
As the BBC reports, the new film The Imitation Game gives a little-known female cryptanalyst recognition long overdue.
Joan Clarke, played by Keira Knightley in the movie, initially did clerical work at Bletchley Park but eventually rose to be deputy head of Hut 8. Clarke was Alan Turing's friend, confidante, and sometime fiancee.
Clarke's contributions to the war effort have largely gone unrecognized.
