Mathematicians Make Top Ten of 250 Best-Paying Jobs

In March, the Current Population Survey reported that the national unemployment rate was 9.7%. For recent college graduates, starting a career in such a toxic market can be difficult, to say the least. According to the second edition of Laurence Shatkin's 250 Best-Paying Jobs, it pays to be a mathematician.

In a list of professions where even beginners are paid well, mathematicians rank number ten, with a beginning wage of $53,570 and median earnings of $95,150.
