Strogatz Talks Geometry and Pythagorean Theorem in Latest Column

While everyone was focused on celebrating pi this Sunday, Steven Strogatz discussed geometry in his latest column for The New York Times.

"So many people I’ve met over the years have expressed affection for that subject," Strogatz wrote about geometry. "Arithmetic and algebra — not many takers there.  But geometry, well, there’s something about it that brings a twinkle to the eye."

 "My best hunch," he continued, "(and, full disclosure, I personally love geometry) is that people enjoy it because it marries logic and intuition. It feels good to use both halves of our brain." Strogatz demonstrates this by taking a close look at the Pythagorean Theorem.
